Antique Reproductions

Antique reproduction frames represent the best of both worlds: the authentic style of the past combined with the very best in modern frame design and archival methods. When an original frame has been lost, or is no longer an option, Shuptrine’s Gold Leaf Designs can create a one-of-a-kind reproduction frame for you which is sympathetic to the time period.

For an Edward Hopper original, we would suggest a clean-lined simple American style moulding profile which would have been popular in the 1940s; however, for an 1867 Albert Bierstadt oil on canvas, we might suggest a ribbed Hudson River Style American cove moulding with carved and gilded ornaments of laurel leaf and strapped ribbon corners. Any design is possible, and any patina is possible; so, if you’re looking for a heavily distressed Italian Renaissance effect, or if you prefer modern and contemporary, we can deliver.
