Gold Leaf on Glass
Verre églomisé (gold leaf on glass) comes from the French term meaning glass gilded. It is a process where the backside of the glass is gilded with gold or metal leaf, and sometimes is accented with other mediums such as enamel and lacquer paints. At Shuptrine’s Gold Leaf Designs, we regularly repair frames where eglomise is involved. Knowing how to gild on glass is a necessity, and artfully matching the gold leaf and the reverse painted backgrounds is where we excel.
